Engagement Photos at Discovery Park
Discovery Park is one of Seattle’s most versatile and scenic locations for engagement photos. For couples searching for a Seattle engagement photographer and a stunning location, Discovery Park offers a beautiful mix of lush forest trails and vibrant greenery that create a naturally romantic backdrop.

We began in the wooded areas, where the tree canopy creates soft, filtered light. This type of lighting is flattering for portraits and works well for midday or early evening sessions. From there, we explored one of the park’s quiet trails. This location offers leading lines and symmetry, creating visually dynamic images without distractions in the background.

Best Tips for Engagement Photos at Discovery Park
As a Seattle engagement photographer, I’ve learned a few key things that can help you make the most of your session at Discovery Park:
Plan for Golden Hour
The hour or two before sunset offers the best light — soft, warm, and flattering. It also brings out the park’s rich colors, from golden grass to shimmering water.Wear Comfortable, Movement-Friendly Clothing
Discovery Park is best experienced by exploring, so choose outfits that allow you to walk, sit, or even dance in the fields without restriction.Include Personal Touches
Whether it’s bringing your dog, like Sara and Felix did, or wearing an heirloom accessory, small personal details help make your session uniquely yours.Be Prepared for a Little Walking
Some of the most photogenic areas are a short walk from the parking lot, so arrive early and wear practical shoes for getting from spot to spot.Consider the Seasons
Spring brings fresh green foliage, summer offers golden meadows, fall adds warm tones, and winter can bring moody skies — all of which can influence the style and feel of your photos.
By keeping these tips in mind, you’ll not only enjoy your time at Discovery Park but also walk away with engagement photos that truly capture your personalities and relationship.

We ended the session in one of Discovery Park’s hidden away meadows. We came across this spot at the very end of the trail and is was the most cinematic spot! This area is especially striking during late summer and early fall, when the tall grass catches the evening light. Open fields like this provide space for movement-based photos — dancing, spinning, or simply walking together — which helps capture natural expressions and candid moments.
